Studies on Effect of Atropine on the Heart Rate

Abstract
In man 0.05mg(0.61-0.94¥ìg/kg) and 0.2mg(2.5-3.8¥ìg/kg) of atropine produced bradycardia, whereas 0.4mg tachycardia. The bradycardia due to 0.05mg was definitely less pronouned than that to 0.2mg. No further change of pulse rate, however, was observed when 0.2mg of atropine was given after 0.05mg. Mechanism of the atropine, bradycardia was discussed in the light of inhihitory action of atropine on sympathetic ganglionic transmission.
